Expert Answers about Airstream Front Receiver Hitch

  • Solution for Draw-tite Front Mount Hitch Not Fitting With Slight Gap
  • Sometimes hitches can get slightly bent during shipping and this can be fixed by bending the hitch back into place as long as the hitch only has a slight bend to it. If yours isn't lining up I can almost guarantee that is what happened. Some people will use open steps for leverage, vices and even car jacks to apply controlled force to bend the hitch back. In your case you could start all of the bolts and then torque them all down to allow the hitch to bend back into place. You will want...

  • Locating a Front Mounted Trailer Hitch With High Tongue Weight Capacity on 2017 Ford F-350
  • The EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7904 is the highest rated front mounted hitch that is confirmed to fit your truck. My recommendation is to try and reposition the weight in your trailer to alleviate the tongue weight to get you within the range of this receiver. You may need to remove weight from the tongue and place it behind the rear axle to lessen the tongue weight as a front mounted hitch is not rated for weight distribution to displace...

  • Cooler Interference with the Curt Front Mount Hitch # 31310 on a 1997 Ford F-250 7.3L Diesel
  • If your 1997 Ford F-250 7.3L Diesel is 4WD, then a cooler should not interfere with the installation of the Curt Front Mount Hitch, # 31310. This hitch installs on the frame brackets that support the bumper. It may be possible that a previous owner installed an aftermarket cooler. It is common to find certain aftermarket coolers attached to frame rails because they provide a concealed and secure mounting point. I spoke with my contact at Curt and he assured me that there will be no factory...

  • How to Correct Excessive Play in Fit of Weight Distribution Spring Bars and Shank
  • Weight distribution spring bars having too much play or slop could affect their performance. Their fit in the head assembly can have a bit of play but if the bars have been in use for a long time they could require replacement, especially if the system has been operated near the tongue weight limit for those bars. It is hard to give you a definitive answer without seeing the system but if you can see wear of the metal on the bar ends that go into the head then they could very well need...

  • Why Would The Exhaust Become Louder After Installing EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver 2016 Honda HR-V
  • It sounds like your exhaust was damaged by the installer when they installed the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7322 on your 2016 Honda HR-V. There are a few welds in your exhaust which could have cracked if they did not properly support the exhaust. There is also an exhaust flange just in front of the rear suspension. You will want to also check there to determine if the flange was damaged or if they removed the exhaust and forgot to tighten back up the flange to seal the system.

  • Troubleshooting Curt Hitch Install on a 2014 Toyota Rav4, Brake Line Interference
  • We had the chance to install the Curt Hitch part # C13149 that you referenced on a 2013 Toyota RAV4 that is the same generation as your 2014 model and we found that it fit just fine. I wonder if maybe you tried to use the wrong attachment points on the frame and that is why you had interference with your brake line. Check out the install video I attached an let me know if you are still having trouble.

  • How To Install Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13315 On a 2023 Mazda CX-5 with No Weld Nuts?
  • First I have linked an installation video for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13315 below. This shows an installation on a 2023 Mazda CX-5 and the threaded holes are located very close to a open hole but the threaded hole is covered with a thin tape making it difficult to see. You will want to make sure you are looking at the correct hole location first. If the hole is there but does not included a threaded insert you should be able to locate a square hole spacer, carriage bolt and...

  • What Causes Loose Fit of Weight Distribution Head on 2.5" Curt Shank
  • I spoke to Curt about the issue you are having with the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2.5" Hitches part # C17132. The adjustment holes on the upright are .78" +/- .05" but if you were measuring with a tape measure, it's not unlikely to get 13/16" or close. I recommend that you ensure the bolts are torqued to the proper spec and that the head tilt mechanism (if equipped) is installed properly. If you still have issue, please confirm the type of system you're using with the shank.

  • Why Does Module Need to Get Moved to Install Hitch on a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT
  • I spoke to my contact at Curt and he said that the reason you remove the nut of the module and enlarge the hole is so that it can be moved out of the way to allow the hitch part # C11400 to fit. I attached a picture that points out the correct nut that you would need to remove to allow the module to be moved so that you can access the hole to enlarge it. You should note that you won't be removing the module. Just loosening the nut so that you can move it out of the way. This is the only...

  • Troubleshooting Fitment of WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711220 on a 2017 Lexus RX 350 with Flush Rails
  • Sorry to hear about your issue! As far as the recommended distance between the WingBar Evo crossbars # TH711220, Thule recommends approximately 27-1/2 inches (700mm) of crossbar spread between the front of the front crossbar to the front of the back crossbar. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows this recommendation. The crossbar spread is important because the rear crossbar will receive a different amount of wind resistance based on the distance apart.

  • The pucks on your 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 will not be adjustable as they are a fixed part under the bed. You should be able to loosen up the cotter pins and castle nuts on the Replacement Base for B&W Companion # BWRVB3710 to get the hitch to drop into the mounting points on your bed. while they normally will drop into most the pucks without adjustment they do offer some adjustment to ensure a proper fit. • If the controller of your Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System w Touchpad and Remote - 4-Point Set # LC358590 is receiving power, and just one of the front jacks is not working, it could be the controller or the jack motor/harness. If the motor...

  • B&W Companion Slider Stuck in Gooseneck Hitch Troubleshooting
  • Sounds like your B and W Companion Slider part # BWRVK3400 is stuck in the gooseneck ball shank of your truck bed. What we normally recommend when this happens is to connect to a fifth wheel trailer like you normally would, and then with the pin pulled out from the shank of the gooseneck hitch use the landing gear jacks to see if you can lift the hitch out of the truck bed. This is a great way to gain a mechanical advantage over the problem. Once you get it out I'd recommend greasing...

  • Troubleshooting a Ball Mount Rusted to a Trailer Hitch
  • Sounds like your ball mount has rusted so badly that it is stuck in the hitch you have on your vehicle. What you will first want to do is liberally apply a spray lube like WD40 or liquid wrench to the ball mount. If the back of the hitch opening is open spray some down in there, down the front of the hitch opening and also on the hitch pin hole. Since you don't plan on using the ball mount anymore I would recommend taking a heavy hammer or sledge and hitting the ball mount into the hitch...

  • How to Select a Ball Mount for a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and Other Items for Towing a Travel Trailer
  • To determine the correct ball mount to use for your Hyundai Santa Fe with a Class III 2 inch receiver hitch and the Jay Feather Ex Port 17c travel trailer you will need to measure from the ground to the top of the receiver hitch opening on the Santa Fe and from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler on the travel trailer, with the trailer parked on a fairly level surface and the trailer frame level. Once you have those measurements, you can subtract the height of the Santa Fe...

If it's receiving under 12 volts it could still be turning on and giving you the issues you've been describing. If you're receiving 12 volts then you most likely have a defective unit from the manufacturer and would need to contact customer service for a replacement.

  • Troubleshooting Right Running Light Not Working on Pilot Light-Up Receiver Cover
  • I first recommend testing the 4-Way connector on your F-150 without the Pilot Light-Up Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # CR-007 connected. You can test each function on the connector with a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Check to make sure you are receiving power at the appropriate pins while a buddy sits in the vehicle and activates each function. If everything checks out okay, I also recommend verifying that the white wire on the vehicle side connector is grounded firmly to a clean, bare...

  • Setting Up Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution
  • Be sure that the top of the ball is ½” to 1” higher than the top of the coupler before hooking up (trailer/truck level). If I understand correctly, 7 1/8” is the height now – that will not work. The shank can be used in the rise and/or drop positions as needed, so if you have the ball in the drop position and it's already at its maximum height, you can remove the weight distributing head, flip the shank over into the rise position and install the head in the lowest set of holes. It...
